In the field of foreign trade we provide integral consulting services in import and export matters, including tariff classification, customs valuation, regulations regarding origin, non customs-related restrictions and regulations (import permits and quotas, analysis of applicability of Official Mexican Norms), unfair trade practices as well as free trade agreements.
At Baker & McKenzie, we have vast experience advising national and foreign investors on benefiting from export promotion programs, such as the PITEX and the "maquiladora" program. We can provide consulting services related to the changes these programs undergo in the course of the new millenium and related to the North American Free Trade Agreement.
We also advise companies in the process of negotiating Sectoral Programs that are being implemented by the Ministry of Economy at the moment. We are experienced in the strategic planning of foreign trade operations, in carrying out internal audits and obtaining individual resolutions from the competent authorities. In addition, we represent our clients before the authorities during customs audits and in any administrative or judicial proceedings emerging thereof.
