Baker & McKenzie is the world's largest multinational law firm with over 3,500 lawyers. Our lawyers represent approximately 48 different nationalities. We are at present in 68 offices in major cities worldwide. Each Baker & McKenzie office is staffed by lawyers admitted to practice in the local jurisdiction and, subject to the terms of our licenses to operate in some jurisdictions, capable of advising on both international and local issues in a broad range of commercial matters. The firm's international practice involves regular professional interaction among lawyers throughout the offices of the firm. As a result, the firm has available an exceptionally broad range of international experience and information.

With offices in Brussels and Antwerp, Baker & McKenzie is one of the larger and well-entrenched law firms in Belgium.

Founded in 1957, the Brussels office is currently staffed by 55 Belgian qualified lawyers admitted to practice in Belgium. As of June 1, 2002, Baker & McKenzie has an office in Antwerp, consisting of 17 lawyers. The Brussels office also houses the European & Competition Law Practice concentrating the EU law expertise of all European offices.

The Belgian legal team of more than 70 lawyers is composed exclusively of lawyers admitted to the Brussels or Antwerp bar, experienced in Belgian and EU law, as well as in international jurisdictions, and clients benefit from the solid relationships we have built with leaders of local businesses, civic organisations, government and community. This enables us to provide a full range of services, from cross-border transactions to litigation and alternative dispute resolution, particularly in the areas of corporate finance and corporate M&A, banking, tax, IP/IT, real estate, employment, contracts and environmental law.

Baker & McKenzie trains its lawyers to provide practical solutions to legal problems and to take full account of its clients' commercial objectives. In order to provide immediate access to specialized knowledge and expertise, the lawyers are organized into practice groups, concentrating on different industries and areas of legal practice. Internal structures ensure that each practice group communicates effectively with the others.

The affairs of each client are supervised by a designated Partner whose responsibility it is to provide a regular point of contact between various practice groups and the client. By developing an awareness and understanding of their clients' business objectives, the Partners endeavor to ensure that each client is fully satisfied with the quality of their service and the level of their fees.

The truly global nature and the high-quality standards of Baker & McKenzie are evidenced through its consistent top rankings in the Chambers lawyers survey where it is ranked in the top five in Europe, Latin America, Middle-East, South and South East Asia.

Much of our success stems from a commitment to and heavy investment in staff training and quality management systems, which keep our attorneys on the cutting edge of legal developments. As a result clients benefit from the best combination of experience and skills and consistently receive innovative, yet practical, legal solutions that meet their best interests and budgets.
